About Tim & Zoe: Our Story

Hi! We’re Tim and Zoe, founders of Embrace Horizons, a slow travel blog. Tim was born and raised in Arizona, and Zoe grew up in the Philippines before moving to the USA in 2010.

We met in college in 2014, where we spent all our free time going on adventures: hiking the mountain trails, cliff jumping into crystal clear waters, and stargazing long into the night.

In 2022, we went on our first international trip together to Italy. We were so excited and planned our trip around hitting our bucket list items! But as we rushed from one beautiful location to the next, we felt that we never truly experienced each destination. We wanted to eat where the locals ate, find the hidden gems, and go on off-the-beaten-path adventures.

We realized that there are different styles to traveling, and the one that called out to us was slow travel.

So join us as we embark on a journey to seek authentic experiences, immerse ourselves in unique and beautiful cultures, and slowly travel the world.

Our Slow Travel Methodology

The Way We Move (Sustainable Miles)
We believe the journey is just as important as the destination. We prioritize more sustainable modes of transport, like trains, buses, and ferries, not only to see more of the beauty and life of each country we visit, but also to reduce our carbon footprint.

The Way We Stay (Days per Country)
Checking boxes isn’t really our style. We’re more into immersing ourselves in the local culture. So we stay longer in fewer places, get to know the best food in the neighborhood, learn the local etiquette, and move past the tourist surface into the heart of a community.

The Way We Support (Local Businesses)
We intentionally seek out and feature family-run guesthouses, independent artisans, and local eateries. By tracking these features, we ensure our travel dollars support the people who call these beautiful places home.

After a decade of adventuring together, we’ve learned that the best stories aren’t found in the rush, but in the slow moments in between.
